Job and Career
While both a job and a career involve getting up and going to work in the morning, there is a huge difference in the mindset of a person holding a job and the mindset of a person with a career. The differences don’t necessarily come from salary or benefits. They might not even come from the difficulty of the work. The major difference between a job and a career comes from how you look at your work and how much you like doing your work.
In our daily life when we are talking, the terms job, occupation, and career are used interchangeably, we don’t distinguish them very much, but in fact, they have very different meanings.
A job is working for which you receive pay. That means what you want to get most from a job is salary. A career is a lifetime journey of building and making good use of your skills, knowledge and experiences. It is the total of all events and relationships in our lives, such as family, friends, education, work and so on
Jobs can help people start careers in many ways – experience, knowledge, learning about what they like and dislike. Eventually though, striving for a career is a very positive step because it means you want more out of the work you do than a paycheck. You want to develop your talents, really enjoy what you do, and care about how you spend your time each day. In addition, your earning potential is much higher in a career than in a job in most cases. If someone ask me that：’there are two kind of jobs I can get，one has high salary，but it is boring，another has low salary, but it is interesting, which one do you like’ , And I think my answer is ’ I will choose the job with high salary’, because I really think money is very important. If I am not interesting in my job, I will do a lot of things to make my life more interesting. And if I get much money, I can travel with my family or friends to relax myself. Travelling is a interesting thing, isn’t it? With the money, I can do other things which I really like!
At last, I just want to say, job and career are both important. If you can balance them, it’s good .But if they have conflicts, and you have to choose one , just know what you really want and follow your heart to choose.
