Generation Gap
In modern society, there is often a lack of understanding between parents and children. Parents dislike what their children think and do, while children often complain that their parents cannot understand them. This is what we call the “generation gap.” Nowadays, the problem of generation gap becomes more and more serious. Are these problems caused by the busy parents? Or do the strict family rules affect their relationship?
Firstly, in most of the families, both of the parents have to go out for work in order to earn more money to provide better environment for their lovely children. Besides, parents think that it is a waste of time to have a free talk with their children. These cause the rare communication between parents and their children. So they cannot know deeply about each other, and then friction(摩擦)is easy to turn up. Finally, a wide generation gap comes into being. Secondly, parents who ask their children to be absolute(完全的) obedient to(服从) them are also one of the causes of generation gap between them. Therefore, these children are not willing to communicate with their parents. Thus, misunderstanding occurs.
To solve these problems, the busy parents should spare their children some time and communicate with them so as to improve their relationship. At the same time, they can also observe their children’s behavior in order to understand their children’s personality.
Besides that, the parents should try to give up their absolute power in family and give a fair environment to their children since it can make their children feel free to chat with their parents. Then it is easy for the parents to approach their lovely children. If so, a close and harmonious(和谐的) relationship between parents and children appears.
Recently, I have learned a passage, which describes the breach between the daughter and her father. Although both of them want to mend the breach, however, they don’t know the exact way .I think such situation can be called the “generation gap”. Similarly, in nowadays, the generation gap also exists in every family, and such problems maybe
become even more serious in some of them. So analyzing the problem may become necessary.
To analyze the problem, firstly, we should know that why there is a generation gap between the children and their parents. I think the core is that we are living and growing up in the different times. When our father and mother were born, the computer and even the TV set was even a dream. And if they want to chat with each other, they have to have a face to face talk. But the situation now is quite different. The tools such as mobile phone, MP4 and even laptops can be seen everywhere. We have already got used to use these things to enjoy ourselves and to communicate with others. Once we need to discuss something with some one else who lives quite far away from the place you live, you don’t need to fly out to meet him. However, the only thing you should do is picking up your phone, dialing the number and then waiting to get through or click the mouse to chat with others online with some chatting tools, such as MSN, QQ. It is really convenient. However, maybe because of this, most children of our generation would rather stay at home and surf the net than go out to meet friends. But the parents don’t know the exact reason of this, instead,
they will sense that you may have already get addict to it. The fear that it will affect your school, and make you pays more attention to it. In that case, they may find others is had to chat. As the time goes on, the gap between them will be deeper and deeper. Not only the modern things, but also the classic things which seems have already been out of date in children’s mind but still fashion in the parents’ eyes can lead to such situation. For example, maybe the parents think that the Peking opera is very interesting, however you know, most of us don’t think that it is funny. They may think such program is to boring to watch. However ,the majority of family have only one TV set, if both the parents and children stick their own opinion and never want to succumb to each other, the “ war” may be broken out between them. And this can also be called the generation gap.
However, after analyzing, the problems, they way to treat it has become more and more clear. Yes, as the parents, they should be eager to know the latest thing in the modern society and try to use it. Imagine if you can use QQ to chat with children to know what they are thinking at present. In that case, you can understand them easily. And maybe more
topics you will get to near the youth. And, as a man who master may modern things, we should also know something which is classic. Try to communicate with your father and mother to feel what they feel. Then the generation gap can be narrowed easily.
For another thing, as the society become busier and busier. People who have to work to survive in the busy and cruel society are involved in the various kinds of matters. The have to work day and night to earn enough money to feed the family. They only think that supporting enough material things to their children is the most important thing. And because of the business, they don’t have time to reach the youth. So of course, communication are become more and more difficult.. Having little time to communicate makes children complain about their life’s boring, although their parents have nearly been a workaholic.
I believe that like the father and daughter in the text, all of us want to eliminate the gap between us. And there is no doubt that communication is the best way to solve the problem
