摘要：An endoscopic system comprises an endoscope having a fibre optic cablebundle, an elongate insertion member for insertion into a patient and an operating port.Endoscopic tools, such as cytology brushes, may be inserted into the port. A piece ofabsorbent material is attached to a cytology brush which acts as a scaffold for themembrane allowing its controlled placement on internal body surfaces after it is insertedinto the patient via the port and elongate insertion member. The material absorbs neatfluid from inside the patient. The cytology brush and SAM material are removed and thefluid extracted from the material. The SAM material is discarded, however the cytologybrush may be reused on the same patient.
