Friends play an important part in our lives, and although we may take the friendship for granted, we often don’t clearly understand how we make friends. While we get on well with a number of people , we are usually friends with only a very few – for example, the average among students is about 6 per person. In all the cases of friendly relationships, two people like one another and enjoy being together, but beyond that, the degree of intimacy(亲密) between them and the reasons for their shared interest vary

Although these factors are not of prime importance, it is more difficult to get on with people when there is a marked difference in age and background.
Some friendly relationships can be kept on argument and discussion, but it is usual for close friends to have similar ideas and beliefs, to have attitudes and interests in common. They often talk about “ being on the same wavelength”. It generally takes time to reach this point. And the more intimately involved people become, the more they rely on one another. People want to do friends favors and hate to break a promise. Equally, friends have to learn to put up with annoying habits and to tolerate differences of opinion.
In contrast with marriage, there are no friendship ceremonials to strengthen the association between two people. But the supporting and understanding of each other that results from shared experiences and emotions does seem to create a powerful bond, which can overcome differences in background, and break down barriers of age, class or race. 41. C. make friends with those who are of the same age D. support and understand each other
42. The reader can learn from the passage that _________. A. every student has 6 friends
B. everyone understands clearly how to make friends C. all those who get on well with each other are close friends D. friends are closer than people who just get on well with each other

TOKYO, Japan (AP) – Japan is very serious about robotics. If the droids are going to fit in, they probably need to learn the Japanese custom of serving tea. Fortunately, researchers at the University of Tokyo are exploring just that. In a show this week, a humanoid(有人特点的)with camera eyes made by Kawada Industries Inc. poured tea from a bottle into a cup.
Then another robot on wheels delivered the cup of tea in an experimental room that has sensors embedded in the floor and sofa as well as cameras on the ceiling, to simulate(模仿)life with robot technology.
“A human being may be faster, but you’d have to say ‘Thank you,’” said University of Tokyo professor Tomomasa Sato. “That’s the best part about a robot. You don’t have to feel bad about asking it to do things.”
Sato believes Japan, a rapidly aging society where more than a fifth of the population is 65 or older, will lead the world in designing robots to care for the elderly, sick and bedridden(卧床不起的). Already, monitoring technologies, such as sensors that automatically turn on lights when people enter a room, are becoming widespread in Japan.
The walking, child–size Asimo from Honda Motor Co. greets people at showrooms. NEC Corp. has developed a smaller companion robot–on –wheels called Papero. A seal robot available since 2004 can entertain the elderly and others in need of fuzzy companionship.
Sato says his experimental room is raising awareness about privacy questions that may arise when electronic devices monitor a person’s movements down to the smallest detail. On the bright side, the tea – pouring humanoid has been programmed to do the dishes. 46. What is the best title of this passage?

We’ve collected all the 2100 questionnaires on school violence, which we handed out last month to middle school teachers, students and their parents.
67% students admitted that school violence did exist around them, who also expressed their fear of school violence. As to the question “Who is most likely to be involved in school violence?”, most students gave “rich students”, “students without interest in study” or “students who make friends with bad guys or wandering dropouts outside schools” as their answers. When asked what may be the cause of school violence, most students chose “money”, “showing power”, “girls”. According to the survey, 26% students have encountered school violence at least once.
PDF 文件使用 \"pdfFactory Pro\" 试用版本创建 www.fineprint.cn98% of the parents questioned said they were often worried about the safety of their kids in the school. Some parents said that if their children didn’t return home an hour after school, they would, most of the time, expect something bad had happened to them. Many parents chose to accompany their children to school and back home every day for fear that their money might be extorted or they might be beaten by some other teenagers outside the school because of some conflicts in the school.
Teachers also expressed their great concern about the increasing number of the cases of school violence. Li Rong, a psychology professor from Lanzhou Medical College, appealed to the attention of the whole society to the mental health of adolescents, who are going through a special period of life and easily engage in violence as they are longing for a sense of success, which, if not achieved in study, will be attempted to get through fighting or other forms of violence.

One possible version:
According to a recent survey, violence does exist in schools. Students show their fear and parents and teachers also express their great concern about it. Experts hope the whole society pay more attention to the mental health of adolescents.
Nowadays, school violence is a hot issue. I think this is a phenomenon which calls for our great concern. We should try every effort to prevent violence happening at school for more and more students would drop out of school if their personal safety could not be guaranteed. In fact, violence is a learned behavior. Children learn violent behaviors from adults or from what they see on television, on the Internet, in video games or movies.
If I meet with school violence, I will not answer violence with violence, for it will result in more fightings. I will tell my teachers or parents about it. I think they will help me deal with it well and they will protect me from the bad guys.
All in all, every student should behave himself and keep away from school violence. 评分标准
