摘要：.Iadd.An improved power-actuated tool having means for preventing firing if thetool is not properly aligned with the work surface. The tool housing member includes aslidably mounted firing mechanism having cocking means extending forwardly intoengagement with a sensing means mounted in the barrel member for relative axialmovement therewith. A first member is attached to the barrel member. A secondmember is mounted within the first member for relative axial movement therewith andwith respect to the barrel member, and includes a portion adapted to engage thesensing means. The second member must be moved rearwardly with respect to the firstmember whereby the sensing means is moved rearwardly with respect to the barrelmember and engages the cocking means to move the firing mechanism into the cockedposition. The tool may also include an extractor mechanism mounted on the breech endof the barrel and provided with a lip portion adapted to engage the head of a cartridgepositioned in the cartridge chamber. The extractor mechanism also includes an elongatedportion slidably mounted in the barrel member and extending into a barrel guide slot.The end of the elongated portion is adapted to be engaged by a barrel guide screwsecured to the housing upon movement of the barrel member from the breech closed tobreech open position. The movement of the barrel member relative to the housing
serves to move the extractor mechanism rearwardly with respect to the cartridgechamber thereby withdrawing the cartridge from the cartridge chamber.
